About Us

In pursuit of sustainable development, Duy Tan University has consistently prioritized the advancement of scientific research as a cornerstone of its mission to generate new knowledge. To institutionalize this vision, the University has established research institutes in Da Nang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho with the aim of attracting distinguished scientists.

On the recommendation of Prof. Dr. Vu Xuan Quang (then Vice Rector), the Rector of Duy Tan University issued Decision No. 5969/QD-ĐHDT on November 26, 2018, formally establishing the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Research (ITAR). Subsequently, on June 16, 2019, ITAR was granted an official Certificate of Registration for Science and Technology Activities by the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology. The Institute’s first Director was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Nhu Dat, with its initial headquarters located at 73 Hoang Cau, Dong Da, Hanoi.

The Rector has entrusted ITAR with several key mandates:

1. Advising the University’s leadership on scientific research policy and strategy.

2. Conducting pioneering research to advance knowledge, disseminating findings in internationally recognized SCIE-indexed journals, and pursuing intellectual property protection through patents.

3. Undertaking fundamental and applied research projects at national and international levels.

4. Building extensive networks of scientific collaboration across Vietnam and abroad.

5. Contributing to the University’s educational mission through teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.

Although its formative years were marked by challenges, ITAR has now established a solid foundation and earned recognition within Vietnam’s scientific landscape, making significant contributions to the University’s long-term development. Its current headquarters are located at 01 Phung Chi Kien, Nghia Do, Cau Giay, Hanoi.

ITAR’s principal research areas encompass:

1. Development of advanced materials and their integration into high-performance devices.

2. Theoretical and computational physics.

3. Nuclear physics.

4. Mathematics and its applications.

5. Artificial intelligence and machine learning.

6. Macroeconomics and microeconomics.

Through its achievements, dedicated personnel, and well-equipped infrastructure, ITAR has demonstrated excellence in fulfilling its mission, thereby contributing to the overarching success of Duy Tan University. Looking ahead, the Institute plays a pivotal role in advancing the University toward its strategic vision of joining the ranks of the world’s Top 500 elite universities and the Top 100 in Asia.
